Independent Living

Independent Living Facilities (ILF’s), are generally viewed as the step before an ALF, in the sense that they offer more conveniences than a conventional housing complex, are age restricted, and perhaps may also have some very rudimentary health care elements to it.

In general, they are well located, close to transportation and other living essentials, and may offer the amenities typical of a ‘retirement facility’. They vary in nature; from compact apartments, to townhouses, and fully detached homes. While some rents are government subsidized, via HUD, some are not, the cost of which is fully borne by the tenant.
